- Monitor the County government's review of our current growth management laws (Comprehensive Plan) to ensure the proposed changes do not negatively impact Siesta Key residents and neighborhoods.
- Ensure and lobby for maintenance of Siesta Key Overlay district standards. This includes code enforcement of our noise ordinance, and illegal rental violation in our single family home (RSF) neighborhoods.
- Continue our collaboration for the County's improvements of the Siesta Beach Park, parking and drainage plan. Advocate minimal disruption of beach and parking access for residents and visitors.
- Safeguard our shoreline from any proposals to dredge Big Pass that may negatively impact our beaches.
- Work with developers of a possible new Stickney Point Road/US 41 commercial and residential project to address concerns regarding the impact of the large scale development on traffic on and off Siesta Key.
- Continue to monitor the County's maintenance of navigational markers for the Gulf side of Big Pass.
- Participate in the ongoing development of the Post Disaster Redevelopment Plan to ensure protection of our rights to rebuild after a disaster.
We are proud of many achievements supporting our community, including:
- Developed a plan for improved pedestrian and traffic safety with County placement of five radar signs for speed calming.
- Enhanced code enforcement support for the Siesta Key Village noise ordinance.
- Increased canal and intracoastal waterway protections for manatees and residential security.
- Lobbied successfully for speed reduction to 30mph on Beach Road.
- Sponsored community events including the Junior Lifeguard Program, 4th of July Fireworks, Sandcastle Contests, Summer Kids Beach Runs, Siesta Key Crystal Classic, Village Easter Egg Hunt.
- Coordinated plan with FPL to ensure property protections and tree canopy preservation during Siesta Key line replacement project June through September.
- Increased "Adopt-A-Road" coverage to include north as well as south Midnight Pass Road and Higel Avenue to Bay Island.
- Biodegradable bags refill for all dog litter stations throughout Siesta Key.
- Collaborated with County on beach redesign, parking, and Beach Road Drainage Plan scheduled for start-up in 2012.
- Advocated successfully for new process for County permitting of events occurring at the Siesta Beach park.
- Collaborated with SKCCA to lobby FDOT and County to reassess and modify Midnight Pass Pedestrian Islands Project.
