actions on proposed Siesta Promenade project

|SKA is actively working to follow the progress of the
Benderson Development proposal to build a mixed-use
development at the corner of Stickney Point Road and
US-41. Our goal is to ensure that the final
development has the least possible impact on Siesta Key and
SKA submitted a letter
to the Planning Commission requesting that they
recommend that the project not be approved as currently
proposed. Despite this and hours of testimony opposing
approval, the Planning Commission voted 5-2 to recommend
approval of the project as submitted.

The final Public Hearing before the Board of County
Commissioners will be held at 9am on December 12,
2018. If you have comments you want the
commissioners to consider, they should be emailed to them
before 5pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 to be sure
they are included in the official briefing packets.
SKA has submitted a letter
to the BCC requesting that they not approve the
project as planned and either require that it be resubmitted
conforming to standard zoning limits or approve the project
with changes to reduce the density and height limits from
those in the current proposal.
It is important for as many people as possible to attend the
Public Hearing on the 12th to make sure the commissioners
understand the magnitude of the opposition to this

"Likes" on the marketing website they set up for their
proposal, and they likely will try to use this to show that
people in favor of the project outnumber the people
opposed. It is up to you to help prove they are wrong.

Workshop on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 6pm

There was a large public turnout and many comments from
residents. Local news outlets provided coverage, but
SKA is not currently aware of any official report on the
outcome of the meeting.
|Benderson Development Promotional Activity
Development has issued a press release and launched a
website promoting the development. Links are

launched a survey to engage residents in the selection of
an organic grocer for the retail section.
SKA encourages members to compare the statements made on
the website against the text of the actual CAP submission.
Also compare the assumptions on roadway reconfiguration
