Siesta Key Association Board Meeting Minutes October 2, 2008 CALL TO ORDER AND DETERMINATION OF QUORUM: Lourdes Ramirez called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. MINUTES - Joyce Kouba: July, August, and September minutes were approved. TREASURER'S REPORT - Bob Tripp: The Treasurer's Report was accepted. SHERIFF'S REPORT - Sgt. McGregor: This is a slow time of year. No specific crime trends. Sheriff is checking noise level every night and levels are in compliance. No motorcycles out of compliance. LIFEGUARD REPORT - Robert Martini: New boat is working well. Statistics: 123,684 visitors in September, 8 rescues, 45 assists, 211 minor first aid, 4 major first aid, 21 pet violations, 61 glass violations, 56 boat warnings, 19 lost persons. PUBLIC/AUDIENCE COMMENT - 14 Guests: Benderson Development - Paul Blackketter, Ivan Lozina. Five to six trailers are being removed from Stickney Point each day. Contractor profits are in recycled materials. 30 to 40% of materials are being recycled. Demolition is scheduled for completion mid-December and a public charrette by 2nd quarter 2009. AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS: Midnight Pass - Bob Waechter: No report. Turtle Beach - Ron Flynn: Blind Pass Road is beginning to crumble. Inlet Management - Peter van Roekens: All markers are in place in Big Pass. Truitt Study and peer review have been completed and will be announced to BCC in November. Noise - Peter van Roekens: No report. Code Enforcement - Gayle Wardner: No report. Parking - Bob Schennum: Village merchants will present their final proposal to the BCC. Ideas include: 1 space for every 50 feet of serving space, credit for bike/motorcycle space, pay into a parking fund, shared parking, valet parking. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: Nominating/Board Development - Paul van Deventer: No report. Zoning - Lourdes Ramirez: Coastal Code GBSL: next meeting 10/28, 9am at RL Anderson in Venice. The next draft of the Coastal Code is available (ftp://ftp.scgov.net/Pub/ResourceProtection/Coastal_Setback). Siesta Key Parking: Planning Commission review postponed until October; to BCC in November. The County will give the Village merchants time to make their recommendations. The County will also give SKA an opportunity to comment. Zoning Code update: Four items were slated for further attention: detached/accessory structures, temporary use permits, density transfer between districts proposed by developers, and commercial truck sizes permitted in neighborhoods. Hyatt - No update. Hub - No update. Tenacity Lane - No update. Membership - Deet Jonker: SKA currently has 1,600 family memberships. 2009 membership mailing will be done in January. November 15 is deadline for newsletter articles. OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: The County plans for the Siesta Key drainage project were met with objections due to cost and potential impact on the Grand Canal. Also, Mote Marine and the Estuary Program were not included in development of the plan. ADJOURN: The meeting was adjourned.
