Siesta Key Association Board Meeting Minutes April 5, 2007 CALL TO ORDER AND DETERMINATION OF QUORUM: President Ramirez called the meeting to order at 4:40 p.m. A quorum was present: Matthew Burnett, Ron Flynn, Russ James, Deet Jonker, Joyce Kouba, Lourdes Ramirez, Mark Smith, Bob Tripp, Paul van Deventer, Peter van Roekens, Bob Waechter. Excused: Ann Kaplan, Gayle Wardner. Absent: Daniel Bechtold. MINUTES - Joyce Kouba TREASURER'S REPORT - Bob Tripp March revenues slightly exceeded expenses. Russ James questioned expenses for decals. The Board will review decals for the next membership drive. The Treasurer's report was accepted. SHERIFF'S REPORT - Scott Osbourne March was a busy month: Issued 100 underage drinking citations; 350 parking citations. Handled 500 calls. Apprehended "cat burglar". Investigated kayaks and boats stolen near Jim Neville Preserve. Worked with building contractors to reduce congestion from construction trucks parking in the median of Midnight Pass. PUBLIC/AUDIENCE COMMENT - 11 guests Sky Wallen distributed information for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Trash cans are needed at Turtle Beach; dumpsters are overflowing. SKA will send letter to Parks and Rec. Jim Groves congratulated Sheriff's Dept. and noted that illegal parking at Turtle Beach has become hazardous. Sheriff's Dept. will bring to attention of BOCC. AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS: Adopt-A-Road/South - Russ James: Next pickup will be April 14, National Cleanup Day. Midnight Pass - Bob Waechter: Karen Erickson is preparing to send response to RFI #4. Cost has risen, so the County is seeking funding sources. Turtle Beach - Ron Flynn: Completed Turtle Beach has become a huge attraction. Turtle Beach Road needs to be repaired. Would like a report on the design of Turtle Beach Park. Inlet Management - Peter van Roekens: Double-anchored markers are being used in Big Pass. The Boaters Coalition sent letters to WCIND in support of dredging Jew Fish Key. At the last WCIND meeting up to $450,000 was appropriated for this purpose thanks to help from Commissioner Patterson. Code Enforcement - Gayle Wardner: No report. Adopt-A-Road/Village - Mark Smith: Next pickup will be 26 May; meet at Village Café at 9 a.m. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: Nominating/Board Development - Paul van Deventer: No report. Zoning - Lourdes Ramirez: Comprehensive Plan changes for rebuild of existing duplexes. BZA appeals on duplex issue. Membership - Deet Jonker: SKA had a good response to the second membership mailing.
