Siesta Key Association Contributions 2001

• SKA was instrumental in the development and passage of Siesta Key Zoning Overlay District insuring orderly, environmentally sound and regulated growth. A plan for the future.

• SKA contributed $10,000 to Sarasota Fire Department Station #11 for a thermal imaging device to support lifesaving efforts on the Key.

• SKA supported the health and welfare of our residents by gifting important equipment to our Sheriff's Department: 2 defibrillators for heart emergencies.

• SKA was an active sponsor of yearly “Town Meeting” on hurricane preparedness.

• SKA actively supported building bicycle paths throughout the Key. Phase 1 from North Bridge to Midnight Pass Road has been completed. We continue to lobby for completion for the rest of the island.

• SKA sponsored the Summer Beach Run, a Siesta tradition for more than 30 years.

• SKA is an annual contributor to Siesta 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza.

• SKA contributed 1/2 funding to county for testing water quality of Sarasota and Little Sarasota Bay.

• SKA established and actively maintain our web site. 2001 saw improved attendance by our members and general public at our monthly Board meetings, achieved through better communication with Key residents.
